Happy Birthday, Caitlin Bug!

Happy Birthday to our sweet, spunky, funny, lovable little girl!  We love you more than words!!!  We can't believe how lucky we have been to get to spend 2 years with you already...and look forward to watching you grow up!  You have a smile and a twinkle in your eye than can light up any room and make any heart melt.  You have a BIG  personality in that little body.  You know what you like..and what you don't.  You have a stubborn side to you, but at the same time you are a go-with-the-flow little girl.  You love preschool and going to Kids Korner at the gym because you are very social.  You also LOVE your big sister more than anything.  You imitate her a lot, but at the same time you tend to be the leader of most groups.  And you LOVE Elmo...it's one of your first 3 words (behind mama and dada).  You are talking a lot more every day, but are able to use your signs to tell us most things.  You are so smart.  You can sit and put together puzzles or play games that are for a 3 year old.

You are the joy of our lives!!!!!  We love you to pieces!  Happy 2nd birthday to our baby!!!!!  We love you, Caitlin Elizabeth!

Love, Mommy, Daddy, and Abigail

Sproutlet

Tomorrow is the big day....Caitlin turns 2.  I am trying hard to wrap my head around the fact that my "baby" will be two.....my baby....2!

I have to post pics about Caitlin's great party yesterday....thank you again to all our family who came to share Caitlin's special day!!!

But so I don't forget...we sent in Caitlin's bday card to Sprout.  It's a educational kids channel the kids like to watch.  Throughout the morning, they show birthday cards so we are hoping that they will mention Caitlin's birthday!   She loves this part of the show when she watches it....it would be so cute if she saw herself (although the birthday cards they show are much more creative and involved that this mama's ability).

I will be tivo-ing the show all morning (and night)  and will post a video on here if they show it....but if you have kids who watch Sprout, watch for our bug!

Halloween Wrap-Up

A few last pics from Halloween....

The girls getting ready to carve their pumpkins

The final products...Caitlin kept turning around everytime I tried to take the picture because she wanted to see the pumpkins...after 6 like this, I just accepted it!

Last Saturday, my parents took the girls for a special day to the Children's Museum on Navy Pier.  Rob and I got to spend the day shopping, planning Xmas gifts, eating out (in peace), and even a nap!  :)  We met at my parents for dinner and let the girls show their costumes off! (And actually got 2 great pictures).  The girls got HOOKED UP for Halloween by Grandma and Grandpa!

On the actual day of Halloween, we took Abby Cadabby and Elmo trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.  Apparently there weren't lots of trick-or-treaters out at 5:00, so they girls got LOTS of candy from each house!  (We also found the house that gives out regular size Snickers bars....love them!)  We ended our trick-or-treating at Nana and Papa's house for the biggest treats of alls (including Rob and my coozies getting "filled" with beer after the long wagon ride over).  Again, the girls got HOOKED UP and we wer happy we had our wagon to get all their goodies home.  We ended the night by heading home for warm chili in the crockpot....a perfect end to a perfect Halloween!

(Of course, I took no pictures of trick or treating....but I joined the masses and got a new Iphone, so rest assure I will never miss another picture).

The BIG reveal....

Last weekend we took the kids to Boo at the Zoo.  It was the kids' first time to wear their costumes, and you'd better believe the car was running and I was still inside with my glue gun finishing the costumes!

I decided to make my own costumes this year.  It will be no big surprise to anyone that Caitlin wanted to be Elmo.  I bought her one at the store, but it just looked "plain", so I attempted a girly version of Elmo.  Since them I have gotten a new headband for her, but I am sort of in love with my homemade, cotton ball for eyes and a nose headband I made her.  I also made her fuzzy arms which crack me up...and leave a red trail where ever she goes!

Abigail wanted to be Abby Cadabby...and I LOVE a good theme (you may seem more of a theme on Halloween if Rob has enough beers).  I decided to attempt my first tutu (Caitlin's tutu is the same one we had made from a friend for her 1st bday).  Let me tell you....it is pretty easy and cheap to make a tutu!  The rest of the costume was mostly things she had, with the addition of the wings and fairy wand, and the puffy hair things I made (we need more puff for Halloween).

The girls had a fun day and loved their costumes! Looking forward to wearing them again the next few days!!!

So without further adieu...

Abby Cadabby:

And Elmo *girl-ified*

A few pics from Boo At The Zoo:

Sort of an aerobic, Sweating-to-the-Oldies feel to it....

Caitlin was insistant on a picture with Daddy...but likes to do this closed mouth thing when she's talking with him....

So there they are...my little Sesame characters!!!!

Hope you are having as much with your gobblins as we are!

Sunny Acres

A few weeks ago, we met my friend Nicole and her two sons at Sunny Acres Pumpkin Patch.  Nicole and I brought Abigail and her son when they were less than a year, so it was fun to head back!  It was ridiculously warm for October, but it was a perfect day to be outside!!!
