What We've Been Up To

Life has been busy around the Wennerstrom home.  We have preschool, speech, ballet, music class, soccer...and working!  So on weekends, we have been trying to relax a little and have quality family time.

A few weekends ago, the girls and I got home from "work" (I call my babysitting "work" because it's work...but in a fun way) and Rob had packed a car and told us we were heading to the cabin.  It was a great surprise...and a relaxing weekend!

Off to the cabin!

Our silly character!

Not a bad way to spend a February afternoon!!!!

And to top off the weekend....that Sunday I met my sisters and mom for dinner and a play!  It's sort of become a "tradition" for the girls to have a night out!!!!!  I love it...and hope that I pass my family's love of theater down to my girls!!!

Such a fun night!!!!  And thanks to my family for my bday gift...my new purse.  I LOVE it!!!!!

Last week was fairly uneventful.  I have been working a lot for Kendall College (I supervise Student Teachers and really LOVE this job) and Rob's Aunt Tina has been a LIFE SAVER!  She has been watching the kids on and off so I can work.  We are so grateful she watches the kids...and the kids LOVE going there.  They always do something fun...like this adorable Valentine's Day Craft:

Last Thursday Abigail was complaining of an earache.  By Thursday night she had a fever, so we took her to the doctor on Friday.  She had a double ear infection...but is doing much better now!

Last weekend we had a working day at my grandma's condo.  My grandma's condo has been on the market for over 3 years now!!!  It's a great condo, but we decided to update it a little.  The "men" worked hard at replacing all the faucets (plumbing) and light fixtures.  The "women" did some staining of trim...and A LOT of keeping the kids busy!  We ended the night with a great dinner with the WHOLE family to celebrate my sister Katie, who just got her Master's from Northwestern!  She's officially the smartest MUSKOVICH!  Congrats Kate, we are so proud of you!!!!!

We had a rough start to this week with a flat tire on the way to school...but THANK YOU so much to Nana and Papa who happened to be home and were a HUGE help.  Papa got the spare on and Nana watched the kids so I could get the tire changed.  Thank you so much!!!!  And we even got the tire changed with enough time to make it to our dentist appointment!!!!

Caitlin's dentist appointment started off having "disaster" written all over it.  The dentist said "Caitlin, open your mouth" and Caitlin said "NO!"  Over and over...."No" or "Uh UH"!  Thankfully, we go to pediatric dentist who sees this alot.  So she decided to have her watch Abigail (who was in a different room) for a few minutes, then of course Caitlin wanted to do what Abigail was doing.  The rest of the appointment went great!

Miss Abigail went by herself for the first time!  I was sort of distracted by Caitlin so all of the sudden, she was done!  I only checked in on her once.  She did a great job and is getting so big!!!

So that's a little of what we've been up to!!!!  Ready for Spring to get here so we can be out and about all weekend!!!!!

Valentine's Day

Hope you had a LOVEly Valentine's Day!  I know we did over here!!!!

I really love Valentine's Day because it's all about the little things...and getting a chance to give lots of hugs and kisses!!!

(These are actually not their Valentine's Day outfits..these are their "back-up" outfits! :)  They wore their Valentine's Day outfits the day before because Abigail had her school party on Monday....and I forgot a picture!  They were super cute so maybe I'll "pose" a picture).

We tried and tried and tried for a picture of the girls looking..and this mama finally gave up!

The girls woke up to balloons, a new book, and chapstick.  We had a busy day full of going to the gym (my birthday gift to myself), starbucks, and a valentine's day celebration with the other kids I watch.

We ended the night out for dinner as a family which was perfect!!!  After dinner, we came home and the kids went on a little scavenger hunt to find their gifts (again, so little but they loved them):  they got candy, a new cup for the bathroom (so silly but they needed it and love it), and the Winnie the Pooh movie.

It was really a great day!

And yes, it is also my birthday.  Over the weekend, we went out for dinner with the O'Connors to celebrate my birthday and valentine's day.  And of course dinner on my birthday.  Rob also surprised me with my favorite "Roses" (it was the name of a bottle of wine that came in a box of wines he got me, it was really cool) which I loved!!!!  It was a perfect day and makes turning 34 not as bad as I thought.....

And to end...here's a cute picture of the girls stopping to wish Grandpa a Happy Birthday!!!

Hope your Valentine's Day was full of LOVE!!!

Last Day of Disney World

I know...another Disney post?????
It's been almost a month and I'm still writing about Disney...I think I just don't want it to end!

Our last day at Disney was perfect!  We finally got a "grip" on how the whole world of Disney works and really mastered it this day.

It was a gloomy day that was colder with spots of rain, but it worked in our favor. The lines were shorter.  There was one downpour of rain, but we happened to be eating lunch (and the smartest husband in the world had put our ponchos on our strollers to keep them dry in case of rain) so missed all the rain!
Our last time "walking into Disney"....until next time!  :)

The major attempt to get the girls to take a picture....

We finallly gave up!!!!

Peter Pan Ride!!!!  The girls loved it....

Over and Over...and Over!!!!

Because the lines were so small, we did like 6 rides in the first hour (in addition to all the pictures we made the girls stop to take)...it was crazy!!!!

Snow White, Peter Pan (twice), Merry-Go-Round, Winnie the Pooh, and Small World!!!!

I was excited for Small World because 1)  It's a classic  2)  I thought the girls would LOVE it  and 3) It drives Rob CRAZY!!!!!

However, I think even Rob will admit, it was the highlight of the trip.

Caitlin LOVED this ride so much!!!!  She was in awe!  She couldn't even sit down, everytime we tried to get her down, she was back on her feet.  She was singing and moving her head back and forth and imitating every character.  She loved it so much...for the rest of my life, if I'm ever having a bad moment, I will remember Caitlin on this ride, and then the world will be good again!  It was my favorite moment!

Gotta hit the horses!!!

Growing up, we always did the Haunted Mansion 1st ride of the trip...and last!  It was our family's favorite.  So we had to take the girls. They were really too young to be scared.  Plus, we had extra glow sticks we had bought for night times, so they each had a glowstick necklace, which they were very excited to use in the dark so theye enjoyed the ride!

It's such a great, classic ride!!!  LOVE it!

We even found Abigail's name at the "cemetery".

Really HATE this picture...but Abigail LOVED the ride so here it is...
Splash Mountain.  Since Big Thunder Mountain and Toon Town Coaster were both closed, this was the "roller coaster" Abigail was so excited about.  It was a little cold out, but it was fun!  I love this ride too so I was excited to go with Abigail while Daddy and Caitlin stayed warm and dry!

Love her!!!!  LOTS!!!!

It rained a little and the cast members did a big "dance" to keep everyone busy during the rain...and the girls joined in!!!  (And Daddy too).

We did a few more rides (Jungle Cruise, Aladdin's Magic Carpets a couple times) and then we had lunch at Small World.  After lunch, we did the 4-D Mickey movie.  It was so much fun!!!!!

Around this time, Caitlin was getting tired, so Daddy walked Caitlin until she slept while Abigail and I waited for Tinker Bell.  At this point of the trip, Abigail had 3 characters left she wanted to meet:  Tinker Bell, Princess Tiana, and Minnie Mouse....so we figured this was a good time!

First up was Tinkerbell's friend Rosetta.

Then Tink!  Abigail was very excited!!!!

We watched the Parade (with cotton candy, messy)...and then headed to meet Princess Tiana.

(I love how Abigail is eye-ing Princess Tiana).

And more rides...
Teacups!

Not a great picture, but this is the new Beast's castle they are building.  While we were bummed lots was closed, it was cool that we saw it being built and next time we are in Disney, we will get to go check it out!

Weeble Way People Mover...AGAIN!  Such a fun ride for kids!

Abigail wanted to take a picture..and then Caitlin did too.  So first up is Abigail's:

and then Caitlin's!
Ha!!!!

We did this boring ride (something about through the years...some guy sat and talked in his living room....Rob liked it, apparently my Dad does too....I was just hoping for a nap from the girls).

After this ride, we headed to dinner.  We had a dinner at Wilderness Lodge this evening.  It was awesome.  We took the ferry right to dinner and back to the park.  The restaurant was fancy (maybe too fancy for the girls, but a nice treat for Rob and me) and we had some unique food.  I had Bison, which I love, and rob had steak.

After dinner, we went back for our last few hours at Disney.  We started with Mickey and Minnie.  It was kind of fun waiting till the end of the trip to meet the BIG MOUSE and MOUSETTE!

Of course, Caitlin screamed...and this is how Minnie and Mickey reacted.  It was so cute!!!!

Abigail was so happy!!!!  And I know I've said it before, but it's amazing how long they spend with each family.  We were the only ones there for a while so we got a long time, but we were easily there 10 minutes!

Got a great shot of this picture on our photopass.

This makes my heart melt!

Caitlin wasn't so sure, but Minnie stood by Caitlin and just rubbed her back for like a minute.  It was such a cute moment!

This picture tells me "WE MADE IT!!!!!"

Then it was time for the firework show again.  First though, they did this awesome show of lights on castle and it was so cool.  They made the castle into all different things like pictures of families or different places around Disney.  Really cool.  And of couse, the fireworks at Disney are magical!

After fireworks, we let each girl pick one last ride.  Abigail picked the race cars so we headed there first.  Then, we knew Caitlin would want Small World (and it was the ride Rob and I wanted too) so we headed there:

What a great way to end the trip!!!!!

The next morning we had breakfast at our resort, and then it was time to head home....so sad.

On the bus ride home, I caught Caitlin giving Rob the longest hug, as if to say "Thank you for the BEST week of my life"....

At the airport sporting another souvie!!!!

Wow...what a GREAT trip!  I'm so sad it's over...but know there's lots more out there to show our kids (oceans, cruise ships, etc)...but can not wait for the day we head back to Disney.

Our first trip to Disney:  MAGICAL
