Adventures of the Week

Abigail and I decided to try some new and some old favorite things this week...here are some pics of Monday through Wednesday!

The Waterpillar
Abigail got a new sprinkler...Reese and her had a blast playing...and the water was FREEZING! Lots of good times to come this summer!

(For real, isn't that the cutest little butt ever???)

Hiking at the Marsh
I've read about this marsh in Wheaton..so we ventured over to check it out this week. It was a GREAT morning. We hiked for over an hour (I had a stroller)...and it's attached to a very busy portion of the Prairie Path so we went for a walk there too. It's right by Cosley Zoo so of course we had to stop to visit a few of our favorite animals.

A mini-hiker

DuPage Children's Museum
Our old stand-by when the walls are closing down on us. We hit the museum on Monday knowing we'd be outside the rest of the week and we hit the jackpot...it was so empty so we had the run of the museum. It allowed Abigail to try some new things and test herself..she has gotten very brave lately so it was fun! Here are a few new pics.

Abigail's favorite area is where all the tubes blow air....she's so funny there!

Best Buddies!

Abigail got brave and ventured into the "tunnel in the sky" all by herself.

Grass

Abigail doesn't like grass...I know...we've talked about how she won't be able to play soccer if she doesn't get over it. So we spent everyday outside playing in the grass. She's getting better. Oh, and thanks Grandma for her new hat...she loves it and keeps it on, which means I love it even more!

Let's call this one...Trouble!

This week was a pretty low key week...but the last few pics will demonstrate why I titled this one "Trouble".

Abigail playing with her buddies!

Art project: Butterfly

The girls working hard.

Abigail and I have had our fill of being stuck inside. It's felt a little like Groundhog's Day the last few weeks...same toys, same meals, same ole same ole. We are both ready for nice weather to get her and stay for a change of pace. Abigail has been finding interesting ways to keep herself entertained....

I don't know why I laughed so hard at this...but Abigail got into the pantry and found her favorite Sesame Street Crackers and walked around the house for literally a half an hour eating out of the bag like they were potato chips....

Mommy should NEVER take a bathroom break...Abigail got into my purse. Man, I really can fit alot in my new purse..time for a cleaning! I guess she was helping me. I knew she was up to something cause I was washing my hands and I kept hearing my car in the garage lock and unlock....

We enjoyed a family night at Red Robin last night. Today (Saturday) Rob has to work in the morning so we are going to hit Woodfield for a change of scene....and tonight Abigail is going to Nana and Papa's so Mommy and Daddy can have a fun night. I think we are going to see Angels and Demons (the last movie we saw together was DiVinci Code) and then over to our local establishments Flip Flops with Ryan, Jenny, Kristine, Drew, and some other friends.....an adult night!!!! Sunday we are so excited because Rob's cousin from Arizona (who has lived her for over a year) is coming out for a BBQ! Can't wait to catch up!

Have a great weekend!!!

Mom's Day Weekend

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and soon-to-be moms!!! A special Mother's Day to our moms, grandma's, and godmothers in our lives!!!!! I had a wonderful mother's day...which included a manicure/pedicure, a new watch, gift certificate to pamper myself, flowers, clothes, and quality time with family and friends! Thank you to everyone for the great mother's day!!!!

Here are some pictures from last week and our special weekend!

Abigail and Luca toured Dinosaur Alive at Brookfield Zoo last week. They seemed to like the dinosaurs...while they sort of scared me and Racquel! Thanks Bryja's for the fun day at the zoo!

Abigail was feeling better so we decided to pay outside...she LOVES her no-spill bubbles from Aunt Julie.

In...Out...In...Out...That's how Abigail plays with her car. But she loves the car..and our local grocery store has a cart with a car in the front so know I can get all my grocery shopping done with a happy kid cause she drives the car through the store. It's very cute!

At Bass Lake this weekend

Let's compare....

Celebrating Great Nani's Birthday...Abigail loves to blow on her food (No matter what I put her on plate, she says "hot" and blows on it) so she was a big help with the cake! Happy Birthday, Great Nani!

4 Generations

Apparently Abigail is ready for Vegas! Papa taught her how to use the slot machines at Aunt Jam and Uncle Al's house...and she caught on too quick!!!!

Mama needs a new pair of flip flops!!!!

Lunch at La Tasca

4 generations
(I would like to point out that I always get frustrated with Rob because he has no patience with the camera and just snaps a picture and says "Good enough"....the proof is this picture. So I apologize for the poor picture...but it's how Rob takes pictures no matter now many times I say "Be patience, try it again"....)

Rob decided my grandma needed a horn for her walker so she could move around her home quicker...it was a big hit! My grandma thought it was hilarious and kept honking it...very cute! I'm sure she's gonna really annoy some people at her place...but she's 95, she can do what she wants!!!
This week is pretty low key with some fun visits with friends!!!! Fun posts to come!!!! I'd also like to point out that Abigail and I start Mommy and Me Dance Class in June (along with swim lessons)...I'm pretty sure I'm gonna make a fool out of myself in ballet...but I'm sure the pics will be GREAT!

Sickey McSickAlot

Why haven't I posted anything this week? Because I'm being a nurse to Miss Abigail.
She had a fever on Saturday night but it went away with tylenol so I chalked it up to teething. It came back on Tuesday in full effect. I brought her into the dr. on Tuesday and they said it's just a "virus" and to let it run it's course. Tuesday night was ROUGH with her up half the night with a fever over 103. Wednesday the fever came and went...and came back Wednesday night. So it's Thursday and it's the 1st day since Monday that she has even picked up a toy..so I'm thinking she's feeling better. I had to miss work yesterday so I'm making it up this afternoon as long as she stays healthy throughout the morning (Thank you so much Jenny for watching Abigail).

Anyways, thought I'd better post an update...that's what's happening at the Wennerstrom home. Abigail is not a cuddler, but she sure is when she's sick...even this morning she sat on my lap and watched an hour of the Today Show with me (Kate from Jon & Kate was on talking about Jon's affair...I had to watch...so sad if it's true...she never denied it but said "I don't know if I believe them or not" which to me sounds like he's pretty guilty..he also wrote a letter that basically said "Sorry for all the pain I caused my family.").

Okay, gotta head back to Miss Abigail. We are having a really really difficult time getting her to eat or drink anything so she's crabby and she's beckoning me with her cries!

We'll get pics up with the next post..maybe some of Mother's Day!

Photo Shoot & Top 10 List

Today Abigail had to wear something "sports" for gymnastics...so I decided to put her in her Bears uniform since I don't know how much longer she'll fit into it. I wanted to take a picture or two..but Abigail was being a HAM! She was really into a photo shoot..I would say "Abigail, Say Cheese" and she would sit down and pose. It was funny...so here's a random photo shoot for no reason other than she was happy!

Can you say "Ham"?

Two cheerleaders

She kept sitting in my lap and trying to get a picture....

Big Girl

This one is not from today...but a few days ago this is how she woke up from nap. Her hair was OUT OF CONTROL!!!!

I love this little pose..and of course Kramer had to get in it too...Abigail had sat in cheese in her high chair so he was helping me clean it up!

Abigail feeding her doll with the bottle.

Rob and I were talking last night about how funny Abigail is and how there are so many things we love that she is doing...so I thought I'd keep these memories by making my top 10 list!

Top 10 Favorite Things about Abigail at 16 months

10. She walks everywhere with her hands behind her back! (It finally occured to me today that it's the same walk my Grandpa Joe used to do....what great memories!)

9. She learned "Thank You" in sign language and knows when to do it now without me telling her. Today the man at Costco drew her a smiley face on our receipt and she signed "Thank You" to him without me saying to.
8. She doesn't know the difference between "Thank You" and blowing a kiss...so it's the same thing! The man at Costco thought Abigail was blowing him a kiss! :)

7. She is really into playing. She loves her 2 dolls (baby doll and cheerleader) and she is always giving them a bottle or making her cheerleader doll clap her hands when she cheers.
6. She learned how to crawl up on the couch doing a crazy move that only monkeys can do!

5. She loves her blankie...it goes with her everywhere. She loves the smell of it (my mom said I was the same way when I was a kid) and is always putting it on our faces so we can smell it too!

4. She has a "dance" she does when she wants us to laugh at her...she walks in circles and always checks to make sure we're watching!

3. She learned to "jump" in gymnastics and loves to jump...she doesn't know her feet aren't leaving the ground.

2. She still LOVES to read. Her favorite continues to be Brown Bear!

1. Even though she has had some rough days teething, she is the most loving, happy little girl. She has a smile that lights up the room! She laughs at herself all the time...and makes us laugh.
That's our little princess at 16 months! You might wonder what we can't wait for next...we have 2 things! 1. Teething to be over! 2 of her molars are all the way through, the other 2 are half way through. We should buy stock in Baby Motrin. 2. Abigail being able to talk more. She lately has been frustrated because she wants something but can't tell us. She has her own little language but I haven't figured it out yet. So she resorts to a lot of yelling and even some pushing. She'll push me to the fridge if she wants milk or to the pantry if she wants food. Oh, this kid...she makes me laugh!
Happy Thursday!!!!

March of Dimes Weekend

This weekend was the March of Dimes walk. We started at the CDH tent where we saw some nurses and hospital staff..and they got to see Abigail. We also spent some time with our 2 favorite CDH NICU graduates, Luca and Cally, and their families! The rain held off for the first mile...then it really came down. Around mile 2 we had to stop because of the massive amounts of lightning surrounding us. Even with the rain, it was a great time and we can't wait for next year! I forgot my camera but here are a few pics from Rob's mom....
Not a great picture of Abigail, but it shows her cute shirt she wore for the walk!

Abigail with Rob's parents and the shirts they made for the walk.

Even with all that rain and lightning, Miss Abigail was a happy kid. This is after standing in the rain for 30 minutes! We love her!!!
Thank you to everyone who donated in honor of Abigail! We really, really appreciate it so much!!!! Also a special thanks to all the grandparents and Aunt Julie who came out for the walk....and a BIG thanks to our neighbors Jenny, Ryan, Reese, and Chase and to The Holtz's for coming all the way out to St. Charles to walk with us! The rain was a bummer...but the cause is amazing!!!!

March for Babies and our little TV star!

This Sunday is the March of Dimes March for Babies walk! Thank you to everyone to donated for this great cause. It's a very, very important organization for us!!!!!

Miss Abigail has been invited to be on NBC Channel 5's Dance Friday tomorrow morning. It will require her and I getting out of the house between 5 and 5:30 am, but I think it will be worth it! I have no idea how many moms and kids are going to be down there, so if we'll even get any air time or not, but either way we'll be there showing our support for March of Dimes!!! So set your DVR players (or VCR's if you have them) for the Channel 5 Morning news between 6:00 and 7:00 am!!! I will be wearing a purple March of Dimes t-shirt and Abigail will be wearing a special shirt I'm working on!

The walk is on Sunday and we can't wait. There are over 50 drs, nurses, and NICU families walking from Central Dupage Hospital. It's amazing how much of a family they are...and how much they support and believe in the families! We can't wait for the walk...we'll be walking along with both our families, some NICU families that have become close friends, and some amazing friends who are joining us!!!!! We'll have pics to post!

Also, a side note...Miss Abigail turned 16 months yesterday!!! Wow..a year ago she was 4 months old...so little!!! Here's a pic of our little princess at 4 months old to remind you why we support March of Dimes!!!! Look at this peanut..she probably weighed 8 or so pounds....
Have a great Thursday...we are headed to gymnastics!!! See you tomorrow on the tube! :)
